Temperature sensitivity of batteries

UPS systems with batteries are sensitive concerning the ambient temperature. To ensure that the batteries reach their maximum life duration of 3-5 years for standard batteries or 8-10 years for long life batteries, the optimum ambient temperature is 20°C.

Ultracapacitors: Ideal for harsh environmental conditions

Compared to batteries, ultracapacitors have an expected life duration of 20 years at 35°C. This easily covers the entire service life of the machine without a single replacement of the capacitors. In a UPS system with batteries, up to 6 battery replacements would be necessary over this period.

UPS systems with ultracapacitors are ideal for harsh environmental conditions and for bridging times in the range of seconds. Particularly in sensitive production centres, brief power failures result in high costs due to tool and material rejects, which can be prevented by using a UPS system with ultracapacitors.
