Battery buffered UPS systems

UPS systems with batteries have high ambient temperature requirements. The optimum ambient temperature for batteries is 20° C. The maximum service life of the battery can be achieved only under these conditions.

VRLA batteries are subject to an ageing process that is accelerated by an excessively high ambient temperature. The nominal operating temperature is 20 to 25° C. If the temperature rises by 10° C above the nominal temperature the battery life is halved.
